Verge Technologies Group, Inc. uses J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) enabled products to facilitate the development and deployment of scalable, transactional, personalized e-Business applications. Verge has experience architecting and developing B2B and B2C applications for both dotcoms and Fortune 500 companies. Dotcom Experience Verge was chosen to jump start a J2EE and EJB implementation for a real-time quote system and software provider that services global financial exchanges. They looked t o Verge to provide
their team with EJB environment setup, design considerations, and to help them rapidly develop a functional prototype. The prototype
is based on BEA's WebLogic Server 4.5.1, includes multiple session
and entity beans, a JSP front-end, and access to legacy resources. The application was developed in less than 5 weeks. The application services will support C++ legacy integration via XML and a Java application front-end in future releases.Verge's industry-recognized EJB experts assisted a San Mateo, CA dotcom design and develop the core components of its Internet radio site. Because of the need to get the client's services to market in Internet time, and in a scalable fashion, special attention was given to their EJB development environment and performance issues. Verge's expertise enabled the client to rapidly develop and test their EJB application as well as address performance considerations, ensuring their website functioned at blazing speed. Verge provided J2EE architectural guidance for an e-Business in Palo Alto, CA. The firm specializes in B2B transactions where buyers and suppliers post proprietary transactions through the B2B service provider, who translates the transaction into a recognizable format (e.g. EDI, XML, ASCII) for the receiving party. First, Verge briefed the team on various APIs vital to migrating to a J2EE 3-tiered architecture. The J2EE APIs that were decided to be focused on were EJB and JMS for scalable synchronous and asynchronous transactions. Next, our consultants helped model the application's entire ER diagram into entity beans using Rational Rose Enterprise 2000's Enterprise Framework. The database schema was modeled on both container and bean managed entities based on data usage patterns and entity relationships. Finally, Verge developed base EJB classes to provide a reusable foundation for future EJB development. Verge offered its EJB architectural and development experience to a dotcom in San Francisco, CA specializing in the on-line consumer finance market. Our consultants analyzed the existing EJB solution for scalability and best practices, then provided EJB development expertise to an on-line credit decisioning engine that revolutionizes the instant credit verification process. Fortune 500 Experience As BEA's Technology Alliance Partners, BEA and Verge helped the world's largest Visa credit card company to redevelop a proof-of-concept web-based marketing service into a scalable, production quality service for cardholders. The application was built on J2EE standards, particularly EJB, to provide scalability and reliability. It was developed and deployed on WebLogic 4.5.1 and Solaris 2.6. In conjunction with Parametric Technology Corp. (PTC), Verge provided senior Java architecture experience to lead a highly visible PTC project with Lockheed Martin Astronautics. The n-tiered Java architecture web-enables the tracking of inventories for space shuttle parts via a web browser interface. Highlights of the application architecture include: utilizing XML for generic data access, Rational Rose links for custom code generation, and Java applets to present a rich graphical interface to users. Verge worked with BEA and the technology division of a major airline to add personalized portal views into the airline's intranet. The intranet has an estimated target of 70,000 employees; thus, performance and the "user experience" were large factors in the design of the portal and the choice of technologies. Verge utilized the BEA WebLogic Personalization Server to bring a high performance, flexible portal site to the client. Testimonials "We brought Verge in for a 1/2 day evaluation of their skills. I was impressed with their professional
